Police Headquarters
Police headquarters cooperate with the Region of Sardinia and other entities to implement operational procedures aimed at ensuring that basic needs are met when small groups of migrants land directly on the southern coast of Sardinia as well as when planned landings take place in the port of Cagliari. They also help meet the need to identify migrants and then house them in Initial Reception Centres.
To this end, the Region of Sardinia and the Police Headquarters of Cagliari have signed a Memorandum Agreement for the coordinated management of linguistic and cultural mediation services when migrants land in Cagliari port. In this way, qualified professionals are expected to be present within the organisational structure carrying out the initial assistance operations.
In particular, the document establishes that the Police Headquarters should consult pre-prepared lists drawn up by the Region with the aim of ensuring the police use linguistic and cultural mediators who have the necessary linguistic knowledge and, preferably, previous experience in managing migrant activities on individual occasions according to specific needs.
